Craigslist Spammer: Watch Out!

My husband and I are planning to move back to Winnipeg,  Manitoba, where he’s  from originally because the job market for him is dismal here in California.  We’re planning to move some time next Spring.

Well, in his own job searching, he finds this ad on Craigslist: Web Blogger/Article Writer and he sends it to me.  Since blogging and article writing are what I do, I respond to this, thinking I might be able to do the work from here and it will be another income source….can’t have too many of those, right?

The first response I got was this email:

Hi !

Thank you for responding to our listing on CraigsList!

The response has been tremendous, so we have typed up this informational e-mail to give you more details about the opportunity.

We are currently looking for the following:

Article Writers (Paying $25 to $45 an hour)
Blog Posters (Paying $12 to $50 an hour)
Fiction Story Writers (up to $450 per story)
Non-Fiction Story Writers (up to $450 per story)

These positions are freelance positions under contract. You will be paid per article, post or story upon acceptance.

You don’t have to be a ‘natural born writer’ to participate. If your English writing skills are good, you should qualify.

If you are accepted, you can accept as many jobs as you want. There is no limit to the amount you can earn!

If you are interested in applying, please visit our website:

http://www.InstantTypeJobs.com/

Fill out the online application to see if you qualify.

POSITIONS ARE LIMITED! We only have so many spots to fill. Once they are filled, the offer will be removed.

Thank you for your time and GOOD LUCK!

I go to the site and its one of these typical sales pages where you must first “opt in”  to get access to the information, the information being some sort of directory of companies or persons paying for articles, etc.

I didn’t sign up to receive any more information about this program since I pretty much know what it is, and I have no interest in that. I won’t go into any details about the program itself as that is a separate issue. (That’s for another blog post.)

Since responding to that Craigslist ad ,  I have been receiving spam emails from the person who posted the ad.  Yes, spam emails, because the emails are about other programs this guy is promoting, which I did not “opt in” to receive. Here’s another example:

Hi !

A few days ago you had requested information on a Writing Position we had offered on CraigsList. I hope that worked out for you….

I am writing you today to let you know about another offer we just listed! If you ever need to put some money in your pocket quickly – like within 24 hours – then I’d highly recommend you take a look…

This is a free e-book that explains step-by-step how to put money in your pocket extremely fast. We’re talking a couple hours to make an extra $50 to $100 PAID INSTANTLY….

I know, it sounds like hype, but they take it one step further… They will GUARANTEE that it works for you, or….. THEY WILL PAY YOU $100!

I’ve never seen an offer like that… So, please, go to the website and see for yourself…
http://www.EarnMoney99.com/ppd

You’ve got nothing to lose since the e-book is completely free!

And if there is anything I can ever do for you, just let me know.

Have a great day!

P.S.- In case you want to take another look at the Writing Positions, you can still do so at www.InstantTypeJobs.com. There are still a few positions open…..

Note that the program he’s emailing me about is Project Payday…of which I am already a member and which I promote myself. I just don’t spam people about it.

This person is misusing Craigslist and is giving Internet Marketers all over the world a bad name. It is because of people like him that Craigslist has some pretty strict rules about what can and can’t be posted there.

/rant off.
