How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?

Affiliate marketing is an extremely popular and effective method for earning money online. It is widely used by merchants, both big and small, to decrease their advertising budget and to make more sales. How does affiliate marketing work? Well, the merchant aggregates out its advertising to others, called affiliates, and will pay each affiliate a percentage of the sales price, also known as a commission, for every sale made through that affiliate’s marketing efforts.

Internet Marketers: Why Do You Hide Your Intentions?

Ok, fellow IMers, why do you go to such lengths to conceal the fact that you’re running a for profit business? Why do you wax on and on about “valuable content” as a means to end in and of itself?

Face it, you provide content to get people to your site, where you hope that they will click on your affiliate links and buy what you’re selling.  Last time I checked, there was nothing wrong with this. You are providing content that people are interested in, and along with that some services or products that they would probably be interested in as well.

Dear Email Marketers & List Builders

I’ve joined a number of Internet marketing type mailing lists over the years, usually in exchange for some free information or access to a free program, and in that time I’ve made the following observations:

1: The more emails I receive from you, the less likely I am to pay any attention to them at all. There are some marketers who feel the need to email me offers or even information on a daily basis. These, I insta-delete because I see this is as an abuse of the privilege that I have granted you in sharing my email address with you.

How To Make Money By Giving Away Free Stuff

Everyone is strapped for cash these days and that can make it a little tough for affiliate marketers to make money.  However, there are ways that you can make money by giving away free stuff.

There is a type of affiliate marketing out there known as cost per action, or CPA affiliate marketing.  In this type of affiliate marketing, you are not actually required to make a sale in order to get paid.  The way this type of affiliate program works is that you are paid for certain actions that occur as a result of your advertising efforts. You can be paid for someone simply inputting their email address in a form. You can be paid for someone signing up for a free trial of a product.  This  compensation model is known as pay-per-lead, since you are paid for every prospect you generate rather than paying customer.

What The New FTC Guidelines Mean For Bloggers & Affiliates

If you’re a blogger, particularly one who runs a blog as a means to market products and services as an affiliate, you’ve no doubt heard about the new FTC guidelines that went into effect on December 1, 2009.  From the posts I’ve seen on the Warrior Forum and elsewhere, everyone is going nuts about this. Everyone is running around like a chicken with its head cut off wondering what this means, how to comply, and whether compliance will end up hurting the bottom line.

How Fear Is Harming Your Efforts To Make Extra Money From Home

I had an epiphany while watching The Dr. Oz show this morning while I was working out. This epiphany spurs me to write this blog entry: our nation has become a giant fear factory. Every thing we read and hear inspires fear. We’re afraid of germs, we’re afraid of terrorists, we’re afraid of losing our jobs. In fact, we’re so busy being afraid that we have no time to think creatively about how we can solve our problems.

Dollarzblaster Scam Revisited: Example Of A Pyramid Scheme

I first wrote about the Dollarzblaster scam a little over a year ago. I’ve checked, and they’re still online, so I thought I had better post another warning about them and share more details about my experience with them.

What they offer sounds incredibly good, in fact, TOO good to be true: for just $25, you will earn a position in what they call their random column selection (RSC.) In addition, 29 more positions will be created. It works like a big, multilayered chain, and you are paid every time your link in the chain reaches the top. Your links in the chain are constantly rotated until you earn at least $9000. In addition, for every person whom you personally sponsor into the system, an additional 29 links in the chain will be generated for you.

How To Survive The Great Depression II

The other day I saw story about how unemployment was really at 22.1%. That’s counting the ranks of the unemployed the way they used to, you know, back before they got all fancy about it and decided that if you were out of work but were fed up with looking that you no longer counted! To put this in historical context, during the Great Depression, the unemployment rate rose as high as 24.9 percent. With numbers like these, and the staggering rate of foreclosures across the nation, it is not a stretch to call the current economic downturn the Great Depression II.

Are There Any Legit Work From Home Opportunities?

Are there any legit work from home opportunities? This is a valid question to ask given the amount of scamming and misleading information plastered all over the Internet.

The answer, of course, is yes, there are plenty of legitimate opportunities to make money working from home. Thousands of people have been able to start up and run successful online businesses, and the good news is that it is getting easier as the Internet becomes a more powerful equalizer. What do I mean by equalizer? I mean a platform were average joes like you and me can mark out a place for ourselves, hang up a virtual shingle, if you will, and start a business on less than a shoe-string budget.

Paypal Changes Will Revolutionize How & When Affiliates Are Paid

This is going to be a very short post, but it is really important. On my daily rounds to the various forums and websites I frequent, I discovered this blockbuster: Affiliate guru Mike Filsaime reported that at X.com, PayPal announced a new feature that will revolutionize affiliate marketing. This new feature will allow multiple payments to be sent to different individuals from a single payment. This means that the merchant, affiliate, and the affiliate network can be paid simultaneously at the point of sale.  Imagine that, instant commissions paid at the time the sale is made, no waiting to be paid weeks, or even months down the line.
